I vow to thee my country

I vow to thee my country

I vow to thee my country all earthly things above…inspired and whole and perfect the service of my love

In the month of November, we celebrate our Independence where our nation has become the envy of the developing world through the policies and principles of the Democratic Labour Party.

It is indeed symbolic that the colours of the flag are the theme colours of the party that has shaped our landscape and consequently our future. In tough times, the Democratic Labour Party has always been the one to steer the ship of the country through the rough turbulent seas caused by external factors such as the world markets, and the horrible mess and wastage left by previous Barbados Labour Party Administrations.

The Leader of the Opposition has heeded the advice of her peers and has given us a break from incessant ranting and raving ‘much ado about nothing’.

At the recent BLP Annual conference, there was nothing but negativity in her message, as she ended her speech with the phrase ‘we vow to thee our country’ but yet constantly and consistently used the phrase ‘Down!’

The BLP and their sympathizers posing as the ‘opinions’ of the average citizen are not for Barbados and have taken the position that if they are not in power, they will bring it down, some of them going as far as saying behind closed doors that they will bring the country down if they have to.

As a result, the good citizens of Barbados have rightly kept them at bay whilst they continue to fight among each other, as it is apparent that Ms. Mottley is simply keeping the seat warm until the other members of the party put the person they have already chosen to take over.

A love that asks no questions…a love that stands the test…that lays upon the altar the dearest and the best….

This love is held by all true Barbadians for their country, from the beautiful hills and valleys of the East coast to the historic urban landmarks and hangout spots, we Bajans too have something unique as enshrined in our motto, “Pride and Industry”. We like to know when our country and our people do well and we give nothing but the absolute best. That is why productivity and efficiency is important as we seek to protect each other’s jobs by helping each other, cutting back where possible and still enjoying a standard of living much higher than other parts of the world despite external challenges. With such love the Democratic Labour Party will continue to look after all citizens and not just the ‘too few’ as the elitists would prefer.

The love that never falters…the love that pays the price…the love that makes undaunted…the final sacrifice…

In fact, we know that sacrifices have to be made by all sections of society in order to rise out of the challenges we face caused by external circumstances. Like our late leader David Thompson stated, we need to wrap ourselves in the national flag in times of adversity. We need to have the self believe and sacrifice our fore parents had and the very resilience of our ancestors which still reside in our genes.

As a matter of fact, the DLP knows sacrifice very well. Despite controversial measures in 1991, there is no doubt that our economy was rescued and in fact had put the economy in great recovery in a few years, having avoided programmes which have destroyed other developing countries by our ingenuity and patience. With faith and patience, the measures put in place by the DLP will ensure that our country shall not collapse because the DLP is for Barbados, as opposed to the Opposition party of power hungry megalomaniacal bandits.

In fact we can take many further excerpts from this patriotic hymn loved by Barbadians…because our country’s fortress is the faithful heart of its people, the pride is in their faith and patience…day by day our shining bounds will increase, by our ways of gentleness and paths of peace.

Just like in 1994 they are desperate to piggy back off the hard work of the DLP without having brought one solution to the table and constantly whisper and plotting in the shadows of how to gain seats in the next 2 to 3 years.

Together we shall conquer all challenges in the Barbadian spirit. This is the fear of the Opposition.
